3 Years Programme
Comprehensive dental therapy education and training over three academic years.
The Dental Therapy programme prepares professionally competent dental therapists to provide preventive, basic restorative, and community-based oral healthcare services. The programme responds to the growing need for skilled oral health professionals who can contribute to the prevention and management of common dental conditions in Cameroon and across Africa.
Students develop knowledge and practical skills in oral anatomy and physiology, dental diseases, preventive dentistry, restorative procedures, periodontal care, dental radiography, infection prevention, oral health education, dental materials, and basic emergency care. Training also emphasizes patient communication, professional ethics, clinical safety, and collaboration with dentists and other healthcare professionals.
Students receive practical and clinical exposure that enables them to apply classroom knowledge in real healthcare environments. They learn to assess patients, identify common oral health conditions, provide appropriate preventive and therapeutic care, educate patients on good oral hygiene practices, and promote better oral health within communities.
